Please read ALL of these instructions before beginning. This is an approximately 1:200 scale model of "The Martian Maggot," a "rocket" used by Marvin the Martian in Warner Bros. cartoons. The model is intended to be printed at 7.5 inches by 10 inches (190.5mm x 254mm), so it should print correctly on US Letter or A4 size sheets of 90 lb (165 gram per square meter) index card. The finished scale model is about 7 inches (178 mm) long from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail. Assembly is straightforward, with only one line needing to be scored. All parts are assembled with the printed side facing out. Use the cartoon still image on the parts sheet for reference. 1. Cut the sheet into two sections down the middle to isolate parts 11, 12, and 13, and the large colored area from the remaining parts. Score along the red line(s) separating parts 11, 12, and 13 from the colored area. Cut out around the profiles of parts 11, 12, and 13, then fold at the scored line and glue them to the back of the colored area. Apply some weight (a book will do) to this area and set aside to dry. 2. Cut out part 1. Roll part 1 into a cylinder and glue at the tab. Gently bend all the triangular tabs inward slightly. 3. Cut out part 2. Roll part 2 into a shroud and glue at the tab. Align the seam of part 2 with that of part 1. Make sure the text also lines up, then glue part 2 to the tabs on part 1. 4. Cut out part 3. Roll part 3 into a shroud and glue at the tab. Align the seam of part 3 with that of part 2. Make sure the text also lines up, then glue part 3 to the tabs on part 2. 5. Cut out part 4. Roll part 4 into a shroud and glue at the tab. Align the seam of part 4 with that of part 3, then glue part 4 to the tabs on part 3. 6. Cut out part 5. Roll part 5 into a shroud and glue at the tab. 7. Cut out part 6. Roll part 6 into a shroud and glue at the tab. Align the seam of part 6 with that of part 5, then glue part 6 to the tabs on part 5. 8. Cut out part 7. Roll part 7 into a shroud and glue at the tab. Align the seam of part 7 with that of part 6, then glue part 7 over the tabs on part 6. Reach inside part 7 and press the tabs of part 6 to the inside of part 7. Allow the glue to dry thoroughly. Align the seam of part 7 with that of part 4, then glue part 7 to the tabs on part 4. 9. Cut out part 8. Roll part 8 into a shroud and glue at the tab. Align the seam of part 8 with that of part 1. Make sure the text also lines up, then glue part 8 to the tabs on part 1. 10. Cut out part 9. Roll part 9 into a shroud and glue at the tab. Align the seam of part 9 with that of part 8, then glue part 9 to the tabs on part 8. 11. Cut out part 10. Roll part 10 into a cone and glue at the tab. Align the seam of part 10 with that of part 9, then glue part 10 to the tabs on part 9. 12. Color the inside of part 5 black with a marker or pencil. Cut out part 14 and glue it inside part 5. 13. Glue part 7 to the tabs on part 4. 14. Cut out part 11. Glue part 11 to parts 6 and 7 where indicated by the black line. 15. Cut out part 12. Glue part 12 to part 8 where indicated by the black line. 16. Cut out parts 13. Glue one part 13 to either side of parts 1 and 8, just below the text so that part 12 and both parts 13 are roughly 120 degrees apart around the circumference of part 1. 17. Allow thw glue to dry and the model will balance on its wingtips.
