Please read ALL of these instructions before beginning. This is a 1:12 scale model of a generic crate. The model is intended to be printed at 7.5 inches by 10 inches (190.5mm x 254mm), so it should print correctly on US Letter or A4 size sheets of 90 lb (165 gram per square meter) index card. The finished scale model is about 1 x 1 x 2 inches (25 x 25 x 50 mm) in size. Assembly is straightforward, with only one line needing to be scored. All parts are assembled with the printed side facing out. Coloring of the cut edges is recommended; a Prismacolor #346 is a good color match. 1. Score only along the dsahed line of the large woodgrain rectangle. Cut out the main block of parts. 2. Fold the block double at the score. Glue the unprinted sides together, being sure to coat the entire area with glue. Apply pressure (a couple of books will do) until the glue sets. 3. Once the glue has set, locate the braces and top, bottom, and side slats. Cut out three braces and four slats. Place the four slats carefully edge to edge on a flat surface. Place one brace across the tops of the four slats at one end. Glue the brace onto all four slats. Repeat with another brace at the other ends of the slats. Repeat with a third brace across the middle of the slats. This assembly is the BOTTOM of the crate. 4. Cut out two braces and four end slats. Be careful not to confuse these parts as they are very close to the same length. Assemble the slats and braces in a similar fashion to the BOTTON, but without the middle brace. Repeat this step for a second END assembly. 5. Cut out two braces, four side slats, and one angle brace. Assemble the slats and braces in the same fashion as the END. Glue the angle brace to the slats between the braces. Repeat this step for a second SIDE assembly. 6. Place the BOTTOM on a flat surface with the braces down. Apply glue to the ends of the slats of one END assembly. Attach the END, with the braces facing out, to the BOTTOM on top of the slats. 7. Apply glue to one edge of the BOTTOM and the adjacent edge of the END. Attach a SIDE to these edges with the braces facing out. 8. Glue the second END into position at the remaining end of the crate. 9. Glue the second SIDE to the edges of the BOTTOM and both ENDS. 10. (Optional) Cut out the two "SOAP" labels and apply to either side of the crate. 11. (Optional) Cut out the two footprints and apply to the bottom of the box. 12. (Optional) The remaining parts may be used to construct a TOP for the crate in the same fashion as the BOTTOM.
